# About me
Cats and fuzziness. One of the nice things about this community and the feedback is that it helps keep me going. One of the downsides is that I've become less loose because I feel eyes over my shoulder. But that's my own hang-up, I'll get over it. Thanks for stopping by.My cat shown above is fraidy, but sometimes pretends to be bold.

I don't follow you. The actor? (I haven't been to a film in maybe 30 years). If not for Google I wouldn't know the name.

Found it! The term is SFumato - the smoke, meaning without boundless, borderless, as in mass or volume expressed without lines, as smoke. Smokey.

Yes, a way to make things look more realistic. So more blending rather than block of colors with outlines. I do see that the root of the word is smoke.

Right. Fumar, or fumare, or something like that. Been a long time since Latin class.
As I understand (which is probably not very well) it is not a blending that one performs as when finishing - not a finishing technique. Instead, it's a working method, a way of proceeding from the start - a way to develop the forms by precipitating them from layers of "smoke." The layers get increasingly dense as one goes along, until finally they crystallize. That is, the idea driving the process have been approached and pressed from all sides finally reaches critical mass and manifests, or precipitates, like a rain drop, from the heart of the cloud.
If that's wrong, then I claim it as an original methodology!
