Hey! Just thought I'd share this: the Jin Dui has just upgraded our dock here at dA by going Supergroup. Obviously, the number of crew-owning participants in our group is limited by the reasonable number of berths aboard the ship, but I've opened up a "Passengers & Allies" option for non-members who might want to share their own Firefly OC -- and possible get featured in Jin Dui art & fic. Deviants who've joined as a Passenger/Ally will also get first dibs when we're looking to recruit new crew (or have crew member personas available for adoption)

We've got the Jin Dui going -- it's an OC Firefly group, based primarily off dA. We're tackling it like an old-style Trek 'zine club -- every participant owns a crew member and we're exploring the adventures of the ship & crew through the creation of art & fic. jin-dui.swartzer.com is our website -- I've got a couple of stories for the group in progress right now, and a couple pending final persona approvals before they get posted to our website or to our separate dA group.

That's pretty damn shiny, I have an Australian/New Zealand Based OC crew. I was making a comic, for them but it takes up a lot of time so only got a couple of pages done.

Yeah, it's a time sink! Since I've got the captain character, I've been trying to write up fics featuring the step-by-step of their first couple of voyages, including showing what a relatively "normal" port of call at Eavesdown Docks would be like for the ship, since I expect that farther on down the line, we're likely to only write about the port calls which go sidesways. And since we don't have any characters who are bar-brawling muscle types (no Jaynes!), we don't have any action-heavy plots quite yet. But I'm playing this out with a core group of friends from fandom who I've known from years, and we are all taking the long-road view with the project (the last fan group we all played together lasted for more than 12 years), so I don't mind taking my time on longer fics.
I've love to see your comic, even if it is incomplete!

I'm an old DA member, but came across this fabulous group looking for original art work based on Firefly/Serenity and Dr Horrible - I really love your work!
I am holding a charity fundraising event themed on Joss Whedon's Firefly/Serenity and Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog, called Can't Stop the Serenity.
I would like to ask if you would be interested in contributing original artwork (copies or originals) to sell / raffle off at the event in aid of charity. 75% of proceeds goes to Equality Now, 25% to local childrens charity The Archie Foundation.
The event is held in Aberdeen, UK on 14th September

Will whoever it is doing this just STOP putting Game of Thrones art in here?! I'm possibly getting slightly homicidal... There is NO excuse for this! It takes two people to add art, the person adding it and the person accepting it, and this is beginning to piss me off now.

I've declined several but they're still getting in here. I don't know if it's someone doing it accidentally, on purpose or because they don't realise, but it's still REALLY annoying.

Apparently ThinkGeek wanted to make orange knitted hats, made infamous by an episode of Firefly where Jayne wears one. Fox realized there's money to be made here.... ten years too late but we aren't exactly talking about the smartest people on earth here. So... they trademarked the design and sent out lawyers to Etsy and started demanding the take down of any shop that's been making the hats for the past 10 years! Which has pissed off a lot of Browncoats who already hate Fox to begin with and now there's a "You can't take the yarn from me" movement going on where people make their own hats and upload the pictures to their facebooks and Fox.
