i kept Gideon's face neutral in the previous picture because i had no idea what his personality would be.
i don't think i altered the colors for this one, though. that might be the color contrasting with the dark background. then again,what do i know about color?

Don't sell yourself short. It shows in your art that you know plenty about colors. 
I was wrong, I thought the details were in the same color as his shirt which they aren't. Checked now and they are the same in both pictures.
I think you've really have succeeded with his facial expression. Keep it up!
