Sorry I didnt reply to your note before... I only just got around to working on my profile... thanks for your message... I'm launching a new website in February (www.subwayslim.com) so I'm going to start posting stuff soon ! Hopefully lots of unpublished and 'in progress' work from my new graphic novels...

24 Hour Comics Day!
October 1st is a Saturday (offering you a convenient time-frame to complete, & recover from, the project), you'll also have plenty of time to prepare mentally, motivationally, artistically. I know you're all about growing in your art, & this is a great way of doing so. I wanted to encourage you to participate in the event, & share what you create.
If you have any doubts, know this... I've sat down with other professional artists & writers for this event before. You don't have to create a masterpiece, though you may do so accidentally.
I think it's something that you'll find to be a lot of fun. Since you can participate from the comfort of home, it should be easy enough for you to rock this.

I looked into it I think last year? Maybe the year before last? idk. Basically I learned of it YEARS ago first... I was originally too late, because in order to participate you have to register at least 2 weeks before the event. My conflicts with being able to join in & do it were always different, but rarely good reasons for missing out. 1st time I wanted to, I found out the NIGHT of the event at the comic shop: too late. 2nd time around considering it I didn't feel like I was ready: lack of motivation, intimidated. 3rd time was just a mess, working a job, living an hour away from the shop, lack of drawing time/ supplies/ ability to end artist's block /...you name it: everything was crap & set to fail. Excuses excuses...
I left the idea alone for several years. By the time I felt like it was something I wanted to try for again, my local comic shop was no longer hosting the event. I called around to shops in the area & found they weren't hosting either; whether it was due to their lack of table space, public restroom, cot space (a nap is almost required to stay fresh & actively draw), lack of appearing local professional artists & writers for credibility (they also got to promote the sales of their books in the shop), payroll hours to stay open for that long (publicity? economy?), or the owner was just a jerk. So my answer right now, is "No, there are no good places hosting '24 Hour Comics Day' that I know of."
The great part about the event now, is that you can sit around at your place alone to focus, get friends around to join in & motivate, eat whenever you're hungry, nap w/an alarm when you're tired, and post your pages as you finish them on DeviantArt (any image hosting site, according to the official site of 24HCD).
