You should be able to resize and/or lower the quality of an image to get it to fit as an icon. Not that I'm particularly good at such things, but it can be done.
Sure. I like it's apparent randomness. The letters are interesting. And clouds and water are always good. It seems to have something that other avatars lack... perhaps that it's simply not of a person, or oozing with cuteness. I don't know why, but I do like it.
