Ooh, thank you! I just re-discovered the Carnevillans of Oz, so I decided to watch your page to keep an eye out for more. ^_^
Oh. and while I have you here, I may have a bit of a confession... My Semi-creepy Girl Jester Β pic was PROBABLY inspired by the villain of the Carnevillans of Oz. I read the first issue in late 2017, and then last year I had a dream about a very similar jestery character who hypnotized me with a childish rhyme...when I woke up, I decided to draw her. I didn't catch on to how similar she was to Le Quin until some other people pointed it out. Is it still a rip-off if it was done subconsciously?

Don't worry about that. I said I was an Oz fangirl, not that I was a Wicked fangirl. ^_^
The Wicked musical was okay, not really that great, but with some fun bits and catchy songs (and I kind of liked Ditzy High School Queen Glinda). I sort of look at it as a parody of the world of the MGM movie, though; much on the same level of the five thousand other parodies of the movie that are out there.Β As for the books by Gregory Maguire?Β Yeeeah, I'll pass. At least the musical was occasionally cute and funny. The books are just a joyless, humourless slog that thinks it's being really clever and subversive but is really just stuffy, self-important and annoyingly self-righteous.
I don't mind "adult" takes on Oz at all... I've enjoyed a number of them. But Gregory Maguire's joyless dystopian and preachy books were just BAD overall. If your stories contain no reference to them, then your stories are better off for it.
