# About me
My name is Katie Crowley and I’m an artist and taxidermist. I live in beautiful Duluth, MN, nestled between Lake Superior and the north woods. I have a BA in Art with an emphasis in sculpture from Minnesota State University Moorhead. During a model making internship with the Smithsonian, I worked on displays in the National Museum of Natural History and other Smithsonian museums. I also craft gut strings for instruments such as violins, but my core passions are taxidermy, painting, and sculpture. In addition to creating artwork, I focus on game head and life size mammal mounts and am happy to meet your taxidermy needs in these areas. I completed game head and small mammal mounting courses at The American Institute of Taxidermy and trained on deer heads with the talented Jim Willard. I’m also a member of the Minnesota Taxidermy Guild, Wisconsin Taxidermists Association, and United Taxidermists Association. For me, taxidermy is about preserving the beauty of an animal, and I’m passionate about doing that from the overall impression and personality down to the small details. Each mount is a work of art, from a simple, rustic antler mount to a complex, full body mount with habitat.
All of my work is inspired by nature, and I spend time studying north woods flora, fauna, and landscapes to ensure that my depictions of them are accurate. If I’m not working in my shop, you will probably find me somewhere out in the woods peering at plants, looking for wildlife, or just enjoying the scenery.

Hi there, always fun to run into another Duluthian! I just purchased a building at 1905 W Superior St (the old Kirby vacuum shop) and am starting to move things in there. Thanks!

Starting to get so I can at least work on things in there. But I'm having a new roof put on and some work done in the building, so it'll be chaotic for a while!

I have a lifesize coyote I've been wanting to get mounted.
Around what do you think that would cost me? No open mouth. Im pretty positive I have my form picked out too.

My pricing is here: [link] It starts at the price for a basic mount with specimen in average-good condition, habitat base is extra. Is your coyote raw or already tanned? The prices are for raw animals that I skin and have tanned, so something already tanned would cost less.

Have you ever done (taxi-dermied...whatever the correct term is ) any birds? Raptors, specifically?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DiamondDustTaxidermy In reply to ElementalJess [2012-09-12 00:08:49 +0000 UTC]
I haven't done any birds yet. There's a bird mounting class I intend to take eventually. There are a lot more rules and regulations involved with mounting birds, and I would be mounting things like turkeys probably. Raptors are illegal to have, so even though I'd love to mount one, I likely won't ever have a chance to, unless it's for a museum or some special situation like that.
