Hey Demmy,
I posted some more questions about Notus over on your request at Badri. I think they got lost under everyone else's posts. When you have time do you think you could answer them? Sorry about all the questions! I just want to get him right

No problem! Snow leopards are my favorite animal as well as horses! I am just wondering, how do you get such great shots of the snow leopards at the Toronto Zoo? It is all fenced off. You must have to lean in pretty far not to get the bars in your shot! xD

Snow leopards are definitely my favourite of the big cats. Such amazing cats with so much agility and just so beautiful. To get decent shots of the snow leopards at the Toronto Zoo, you really need a dSLR camera with at least 250mm range or more for it to blur out the fence. With my 300mm, I don't have to lean forward at all. It's still quite a challenge to get decent shots there though.

It is sad that snow leopards are endangered. I would like to get my own shots of them when I save up for a camera. I don't know to much about cameras but it is very nice that you don't have to lean forward! I tried to get shots of them with a little Sony camera. All I got was fence! xD
I am going to Ireland next year and I would like to get a good camera for the trip. What do you think would be a good camera for scenic shots or shots of animals? Around $300-$500 budget. Anything to recommend?

It is sad, indeed. People often kill animals for their fur and other things, or people cut down trees and so on which affects the habitats of many animals. It's always terrible if a species goes extinct, so I'm hoping that never happens with snow leopards.

Regular digital cameras don't really have the functionality to blur out fences quite like dSLR cameras do using a combination of range and depth. It's really difficult to suggest a camera for $300-$500 budget. If you could possible push the limits a bit, maybe another hundred dollars or a bit more, you would be able to get an entry level dSLR camera. That would be much more worthwhile in the long run. And then you can get additional lenses as time goes on.

It is very unfortunate that people take advantage of beautiful animals for their own profit.

I will see what I can do for the price. I know that Canon cameras are very good. I would rather save up for a nice camera that may take longer to save for but it is definitely worth it. It is like getting Photoshop CS5 or Photoshop Elements. xD What would you recommend for someone that does not know much and wants a good starter camera to learn from and have fun with? I don't want to end up buying a camera that I will never like, it will haunt me forever.

If you're referring to what dSLR camera I would recommend, I would definitely say the one that I have. You can find the details on my dA profile page. I have never had any problems with it and I love it. If you're referring to a cheaper regular digital camera, I would suggest the latest from the Kodak Z series. The Z series is their cameras with the most zoom, of course. I had a Kodak Z650 a few years ago (still have it) a I love it. They have gotten even better lately too, longer zoo, faster auto focus and so on. Here's an example from my Kodak: [link]

Wow that Kodak has an amazing shot! I will look into both the cameras. Thanks for your recommendations.

And that was a Kodak camera model from like 4-5 years ago. So I'm sure they've improved greatly since then. You're welcome.
