Did you happen to catch "American Dad" the other night? Roger's comment to STeve had me laughing for 5 minutes straight!

Nope, but I have it on DVR! Which episode was it? I'll watch a few tonight before I go to bed and see if I can guess!

It was the one where Stan tries to join the country club (January 28th, I think). Watch for Roger's line when he first sees STeve at the club.

I'll have an American Dad/Simpsons marathon after I get out of Ahava tomorrow! I've definitely gotten that on the DVR!

Well, I could never give enough favorites for "Supper at Sea" alone. I've never seen anything so blasphemous and tastefully respectful at the same time!

Thanks! That's one of the things I was torn by when doing this painting! I didn't want to offend or blaspheme, but I wanted to pay respect for the original and have fun at the same time. Fortunately only a couple of folks have had a hard time separating the painting from the dogma.

I could argue that it's nothing but respectful. To tell it like it is, why wouldn't it be all right to make Popeye a Christ-figure? Both had sources of strength, both stood up for what's right...I don't see the problem at all, but I assumed you'd have several people who would.

I was kinda surprised how few people had any problems with it. When it got picked up as a DD a couple of years ago it also got picked up on a few websites and blogs. I think I've only had one, maybe two negative comments here on DA, and I only saw one or two on any of the other websites that picked it up. Although, if you compare mine with all of the other Last Supper parodies out there, mine's pretty tame.

Of the one or two words of French I speak, unfortunately "Thank you" isn't covered, but "Joyeux" and "FΓͺte" are! So, thank you, "xie xie", "gracias" and "go raibh maith agat" to you!

Hecholo sin truduzco computador. Solemente con mi cabeza!

So, I suppose I should go back and study my old books! I never could get any of the past tense verbs right anyway. (And I notice you're from Chile. I could've been taught a totally different dialect--I know mine was mostly European Spanish, taught by a Puerto Rican teacher! And my last class was in 1993, anyway! I like to keep practicing all these years later, though.)

woow It was it does very much o: is cool that even you remember the spanish
well, i Attempt that my Spanish be neutral
If you need help with the verbs in past, I can help you
and i need to use translator sometimes for the english -.-

Yo gustaba mucho la idioma. En todo el vez, no puedo olvidarlo.

Now, that was the partially remembered past tense verbs. I can't remember if the -aba version of "gustar" was right or not. If you translate the phrase "I much enjoyed the language", that's what I meant to say!

You may not need to help me much. I still have my old dictionary, and it can tell me what I need to know. I've also added another language since then--Chinese!--so, recalling an old one may not be that difficult. I'll keep contact and I'll keep practicing!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

frida-scout In reply to DeeAyAich [2011-01-05 05:28:18 +0000 UTC]

woow chinese, awesome

and "gustaba" is correct
the phrase is: "ME gustaba mucho EL idioma"
but its still very understandable

DeeAyAich In reply to frida-scout [2011-01-10 01:44:14 +0000 UTC]

Chinese is awesome! For so many years, I'd see Chinese Han-zi(and even Japanese kanji) and wonder, "How the heck can anyone read that?" ...Then I realized, "Oh...People study it! Duh!"

And thank you for helping me with the "el-la" problem. I remembered some words ending in -a needed 'el' instead of 'la', but I couldn't remember if 'idioma' was one! (The 'me'-'yo' thing I did...I have no excuse for that. I know the 'yo' is implied in the verb!)
