Hi! I have a question: I'm making a custom adult Scootaloo, this is the first time I've tried this, so I picked a pony i had that happened to be the exact same color as Scootaloo, however, she is an earth pony. Any tips for attaching wings?

I need some help. I'm using the tail of another pony to make a custom, but I can't fit the tail through the hole. Do I need to remove the washer?

You do need to remove the washer. I learned that the hard way when making one for my friend. Nearly cracked the tail hole before it was pointed out to me. Besides that, just follow her tutorial.

how did you make it for your colt ponies for their hair to be flat, not sticking out like a mohawk?

What is your method to putting back the neck plug and the head on a custom pony?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
CustomAnon In reply to Cyankitten [2012-08-24 00:47:09 +0000 UTC]
Put the loose plug into the head so the head and the plug are attached, put super glue around the rim of the body/neck and push the head and plug in until it is flush

I have had a thought while looking through your Customs. One thing I noticed is the necks look a little off. (But Still amazing!!) Now I have a Question. Are the ponys back legs Hollow?
My Idea was that you could remove the head and leave the peg in place and that you could drill a hole through the bottom of the leg, re-hair the tail that way and then cover it up with clay. So that way the necks should look smooth and the hole is completely hidden.
So does this seem like an actual possibility?
Please don't think I am bashing or hating on your amazing ponies!!

The ponies' legs are solid straight through, actually. The problem with that is you need to have an anchor to prevent the tail from coming out of the backside. You would need to make a hole bigger than a tail hole, to get something bigger than the tailhole, to anchor it.
The best way to reattach the head is put the plug into the head and then glue the head and plug into the body-- but it's hit or miss.

I saw your custom ponies and I want to ask; where do you buy the original toys without the comb/random clips and bows and such? The cheapest ones I've seen were $4.99, so I thought a toy without the extras would be cheaper.

They do not sell them, alas. I buy normal singles and use them.

Yo, I'm a huge fan of your customizing! I'm repainting a Princess Celestia happy meal toy, and I was wondering if I could use tempura paints on it instead of cermacoat. I'm just fresh out of white in Delta. :/

CustomAnon In reply to RainbowPoops [2011-12-17 01:11:37 +0000 UTC]
No. Tempura paint is egg-based paint, and only temporary. It'll be gross and chalky and probably not stick well. Acrylic paint dries plastic-like, and is what you want.

wolfpupgrl14 In reply to katiethingy91 [2011-10-02 06:22:46 +0000 UTC]
Me too! I've tried nearly everything. It might help to boil the head for a few minutes to soften the plastic, but I'm afraid to do that as I sculpy'd my pony's hair instead of using nylon hair.
Let me know if you figure anything out.

I wonder if a little bit of acetone on the glue? I might try that.

Hmmmm.... I might have cut a small slit in the plastic edge of the head hole so that it could be pushed in more easily without compromising the durability of the head. This was on my custom derpy. And then of course I glued that bastard plug into place nice'n'firm with good 'ol crazy glue, which does not cause any plastic problems, surprisingly.

I actually found a tutorial on youtube. (I'd find the link but i'm on my way out the door.) Basically stick a pencil in the head for 10 minutes to temporarily widen the hole. Then push the peg up through the hole. It worked fabulously for me!

That works too. I might have also widened it with a pair of tweezers, pushing down super-hard to widen it as much as I could.

what type of modeling clay or..what did you use to make "accessories" so to speak, like princess luna's tiara or how you changed the girls to boys i might start pony moding soon, and plan on possibly just removing all the hair and using clay instead thanks ahead of time if you do answer this x3 i love your diamond tiara
