example, like a fursona that's a pokemon species (for this example we'll take a vulpix)

Hi! Pokemon inspired designs are usually fine - it depends on how similar they look to an actual Pokemon. It would need to have features that make it legally distinct from Nintendo's characters. If you have a reference you can show me, I can let you know if it would be okay or not.
