Ancient HistoryDemeter drives us through Greece,
Along a coastline scattered with ruin old and new,
My skin smells of salt and the sun and the wine-dark sea.
Still one of the kore, not yet Persephone,
I haven't eaten of those seeds,
Though I tell him: let me, let me, let me
But Hades lives near Helsinki,
A colder coastline, icy and distant,
And when did Hades have to be convinced of Persephone?
Did she chase after him,
to put her heart in his hand?
I am sinking.
I am close, always, but so far, so far.
Athens and Helsinki,
Winter and spring.
I go away with my hands filled with centuries,
Empty of you.
I am possibly poem spamming you, but I think you will like this one, too!

I just loved the feel and tone of it.
Plus it says "Helsinki."
So I was like: I know who imma send this to!

I think you might like this poem:
ExileYour vapors blend in my ears
thrumming on these stretching eardrums
and all I hear is the slip and
dripping
of tears on their way down your cheekbones - beautiful stairs
They cry over old city stones
and iron bars, iron ribcages - barred balconies
and passing time in
stages of immobile trials
I'd give you my love, I'd give you my
reach if my arms
weren't exiled
I definitely thought of a different narrative than what the writer seems to have had in mind, but I always enjoy that kind of "eye of the beholder" thing.Β Either way, maybe you will like to read!

Poemmm!!
hope's hallow: apparitiondella was polishingΒ
the bottles behind the
bar for the six-thousand-
and-thirty-fourth time when,
slipping steadfastΒ
through the barred doors,
the blue flare of a full skirt
reflected in her eyes.
its owner:Β
a slice of the sky
at high noon,
a ripe fruit heavy
on the vine,
the most vibrant thingΒ
della had seen in years.Β
della drowned
in the details of her,
constellating an imageΒ
to forever sustain;
her dark halo of tight curls,
the wine of her lips at stark odds
with sharp white teeth,
the convictionΒ of her step
in this empty place.
she should have been
a spectre in this town,
a piece of abandoned longing
left to linger, left to rot.
she wasn't.Β
della's safe silence
cracked in the face of
the stranger's gunshot
surety:
good afternoon, love;
you can call me juniper.
now, are you going to stare all day,
or are you going to offer
a lady a drink?
della dropped the bottle
she had been polishing,
still staring.
In case you aren't already following this amazing writer.

A poem you might enjoy:
InvitationMy wounds are craving
for the salt on your lips -
and oh, how beautiful it is
to ache just enough to live
without ever breaking.
