Nice to find another berserk fan, by the way! I know people are big fans of it, but somehow, all the huge fans are kind of not-as-open or a little dark/quiet about it. maybe it is the type of fanbase?Β

I think it is more the type of subject matter.Β It's a very dark story with lots of stuff that could really turn people off.Β But the art is crazy amazing and the story is great.Β I always try to recommend it to people who read manga since it is very different than the normal popular shounen stuff.Β It's one of those things that, because of the very strong art style, can be found appealing to people who normally don't read manga but may be interested in graphic novels or dark fantasy stuff, like Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones.Β
If you are interested in similar dark fantasy, I recommenced checking out The Witcher games and novels.Β The games take place after the novels but don't require knowledge of them to enjoy.Β The books were originally written and Polish and so far they've only translated three of the novels into English (the first book, which is a series of short stories, and the first two of the novel series.Β They skipped over the second book of short stories for some reason).Β If you speak any other European language besides English, you are in luck because it has been translated into basically everything besides English years ago.Β Not sure about Asian languages.Β Either way, a fan English translation exists of all the non-translated media and it is pretty decent.Β There is also a television series but it's terrible.
