I love your portraits.
There's a certain quality you need to capture when drawing faces if you want to make them seem real. Some sort of emotion, some spark, some kind of "oomph" that makes it look like there's a real person on that canvas. The way a smile reaches the eyes. The right curve of an eyebrow. Something. The same quality that makes a portrait of a person look like that person, and not just somebody who shares their hair. No matter the style, and /especially/ when you're working from a reference - you need to somehow capture the hint of life that's there in the original.
I struggle with this quality every time I draw a person (which is most of the time I draw, since faces are by far my favorite.) Sometimes, after much erasing, I hit it. Sometimes I don't. (My current avatar, for one, is not a great example of that certain spark.)
You, however, seem to hit that spark every. Single. Time.

Thankyou ever so much, that means a lot to me. I was considering uploading some of my photography to this account too, as I go about taking photos in the same way I paint portraits. The best photos I have, in my opinion, show the personality of my friends and the mood of the moment I took the photo in, I always try to get that in.
If it helps, when you're drawing a face, sometimes it's good to turn everything upsidedown when you start it off. Draw it upsidedown for a few hours, looking at your reference photos upsidedown too, and when you're happy with how it looks, turn everything the right way up, see where the mistakes are, and correct them, then flip the references and your picture horizontally (if you're doing this traditionally, just hold it up to a window, backwards. It'll make all the mistakes bright and clear and when you keep flipping everything around, and keep drawing, you'll refine it to the right shapes eventually, then right at the end, once it's all done, you can add in those little characteristics which make it that bit more real, as sometimes they really are only small.
