Can we contribute cards that we've already traded if we join? I just want to share some of my old images without looking to trade them since I've already done so.

hey!
I hope it would be a problem to do small advertisement of my last offer - I'm looking for ACEO trade partner, more info here:
Looking for one partner for ACEO trade :3 [OPEN]Some time ago I met with zentangle for the first time - I find it interesting but not that much itself. So it came to my mind that I could try to put it together with my regular fantasy art - abstract and fantasy is pretty close to each other so it might work well :3 And because it's been quite long time I did my last ACEO, I came with this solution :3 Feel free to spread the word to others, I'm always eager to met with new artist styles and trade with them ^^
More info about how zentangle looks like:
official web page of artist who started it:Β https://www.zentangle.com/google image search :3
What I offer
one slot for ACEO trade (let's say completed until the end of March)card with portrait or bust of one character and abstract (probably black&white or one color lineart, maybe with little coloring, not sure) zentangle backgroundspecies of the character doesn't matter just be sure to give me referencessome examples of portrait/bust ACEOs I already did:

Thanks!

Hey everyone,
I just spent over an hour ripping down art, links and comments for sales.
I want to reiterate that this group is for DISPLAY AND TRADING ONLY.
If you want to sell anything, go someplace else. The membership here is engaged in display, friendly critique and trading only. This is not a venue for marketing or advertising your wares. No selling, searching for clients or funneling people to sales portals is permitted.Β

Can someone give me some advice about how to get started with art card trading?

ARTG33K74 In reply to Everch [2014-11-19 07:21:50 +0000 UTC]
Please see the How-To section (to the left with information to the group). This group has some trading but more display of art than exchanges. I like ATCsForAll website - you make a free account, scan of photograph of your ATCs available and look at other people's work; then ask people to trade via messages. Mainly, you need to ask people if they would like to trade. Having many cards is helpful, so 12 is better than 2 in your trade gallery; people have more to choose from. If someone says "no thank you" do not be insulted or upset, they may like a work of yours in the future and want to trade. There are many online groups for mail trading and sometimes you can trade in person, such as fan conventions and art events. Β

If you get multiple messages regarding cards for sale / marketing, please note that I input the message for each Deviation I remove from the group. If you want to submit work to the group, please remove any sales references. Any business cards put on display here, I am just removing. This group is for display and trading of original, hand-made artist trading cards. Thank you~!

Zaichick, founder & original owner deserves the credit for putting that up. I'm being the strong arm of booting any sales stuff in the description or image. Also,m if another bird brain puts their business cards on this group, I may flip out. 6_9 Some nice designs, they have nothing to do with the group though! I think I will just tear them down without comment in the future.Β

Art is fine, digital art is fine, just that industrial promotional work and ACEO sales are not a good fit. βΊ ATC culture is its own subculture and people that are new to it are not aware of some of the guiding principles of the medium. I learned so much from the first six people that mailed trades with me, so now it's time to share it forward.Β

Β I'm sorry.... that sized art was made in Michelangelo's time. Forgive me but how can it be new?
An offshoot of artist trading cards are Art Cards, Editions and Originals (ACEOs), which originated when some artists began to create cards to sell, in addition to trading among themselves. Many ACEOs are sold on internet auction sites, such as eBay . As the term suggests, ACEOs may be small original works of art, or editions of small prints.
Michael Leavitt 's Art Cards, hand-painted small portraits of artists, replicated traditional baseball trading cards in style and format. [6] Subjects were drawn from various genres, and included Vincent van Gogh , Bob Ross , Frida Kahlo , Jackson Pollock , and Michael Jackson . The limited editions were hand-packed in wrappers with bubble gum. [7] [8] Leavitt said, "It's a way I created to compare people and what they do across all kinds of different areas." [9]
As for an earlier example, in 1991, Cleury Champion first sold his cards through the catalog of his avant-garde magazine eXpErImEnTaL (bAsEmEnT). Champion's most recognized cards were playing cards with experimental poems of John M. Bennett rubber stamped on the face. [10]
M. VÀnçi Stirnemann is credited in many circles with popularizing the modern artist trading card in 1996, [5] holding trading sessions in Zurich, Switzerland. This resurgence of interest in the cards spawned the ACEO (Art Cards, Editions and Originals) movement.

There have always been miniature art works, especially portraits in the pre-photographic area. (I usually do not go in for the "age equals a superior pedigree" mentality for any particular media as a lot of media and culture historians like to backwards edit and claim an ancient ancestry for some sort of validation that mimics religious texts more than accounts for actual origination. (One strong exception is Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics makes an excellent case for text and image based sequential art being millenniums old and a natural communications form.)Β I categorize Altered Playing Cards [APC] art as a separate but related form of an ATC. Many people collect APCs and seek to make complete decks of all the suits as a total artwork completed through trading. There have been prior appropriations of playing cards or sports cards as an art medium, but they were specific creations of people offered for sale. I think akin to Warhol's Brillo boxes and other industrial / commercial appropriations.Β "New" being relative to the current movement for artist trading cards being a contemporary creation founded byΒ M. VΓ€nΓ§i Stirnemann inspired by commercial sports trading cards [1900- present] with the variation of them being individual art works exchanged among people via barter but not as commerce. Stirnemann is a big supporter of Copyleft and Open Source materials and making 'high' culture and fine art accessible to all people; ATCs are egalitarian and democratic being accessible art for the cost of postage. His intentions with the original 1996 trade of the 1200 cards in Zurich [crested in conjunction with two other artists] was to make the cards prolific and to encourage people to trade without discrimination towards the style or content of the works, with additional interest in what types of ATC art would come from the different regions and cultures of the world.Β

Hello, I am part of the art club at my high school and we are interested in doing ATCs. I am just wondering, are all ATCs accepted? I know you have to ask one on one, but is the art judged to get into the group, or is it simply the other artist who has to agree to trade?
π: 0 β©: 2
SelendrileDragoon In reply to RISITURKEY [2013-09-16 16:37:52 +0000 UTC]
Actually, you could host a group swap, in which each artist makes several ATCs and one host divvies them up between all the participants. Some people have rules about the level of art/talent required, some don't. It's usually best to ask individual artists.
Your art club could consider joing www.atcsforall.com, which allows everyone to make a profile and trade with who they like. Or they could apply to www.illustratedatcs.com, which is a juried site that picks higher level artists to allow to trade.
As for this specific group, as far as I know, it's simply a showcase for all kinds of ATCs. There is not (to my knowledge) any judging involved on submitting it to the group.

It is #2:Β Β the other artist has to agree to trade and you exchange addresses. Β If you have a P.O. box address or can use, a school or parent's business address you can have your card or cards mailed to please consider safety for mailing since you are minors and often it is not advised to give out your home address. Β I trade with young kids through a proxy like their mothers or aunts and I trade with teens who have a safe mailing address. Β I trade on a few sites. Β I recommend this group and ATCsForAll.com which you put up your work in a gallery and people inquire to trade. Β Also, having a high school art club would be great because you have a bunch of people you can trade with in person. βΊ Β I went to an at college and I was trading with classmates a lot so I graduated with a good collection of art, some favorites are on my walls right now. βΊ
