Well, Disney offered Alex Hersch a third season, but he turned it down because he wanted to finish the story in two.

my theory is that alex hirisch had enough poppurlarity with gravity falls so he didn't extended it
but other theory is that alex didn't do a third season because of innapropiate content so he decided cancel it to avoid problems with disney

huh. interesting theory. I think that he just completed his story arc and decided to move on to do other things outside of Disney. Where he could have more freedom with content type and whatever. Not necessarily that he had anything like that planned for Gravity Falls ever.

uff... what a relief, because one time alex said that he was almost fired from disney with fire threats, but later he still working to gravity falls.
It's a great decision that alex had leave disney (or quit disney) to make other things that he's permited.

But other cartoons that i like Ej. TMNT 2012, The Loud House,Steven Universe and Star vs The Forces of Evil are in the eye of the hurracaine becasue of controversial content in kids show and their respect kids channel.

In Nickelodeon show Harvey Beaks, the creator C.H. Greenblatt (creator of Chowder too) felt abused by Nickelodeon, cuz the network didn't gave too much popularity and interest
