I'm back - with a kajillion photos to process and maybe post, and a new camera to learn how to operate.

I'm doing okay, thank you - trying to get some creativity back in my life - it's been sorely lacking lately. Thought coming back here might help. How've you been?

Where do I start? My mom passed in October of last year. She was 96 and in rapidly declining health. I'm now living alone, since my ex moved out. We're still on good terms (had dinner together tonight) and I've finally gotten the apartment organized. Now I can start working on getting up to speed with some 3D software I bought and plan to use for some projects I have in mind. I'll keep you posted. I haven't done much creatively, either, since most of my time was taken up taking care of my mom. I'm in the midst of transitioning to a new routine and I'm getting there. Also finally got a new car, a 2013 Dodge Dart Limited. Nice car. Old one was pretty well shot. That's the Reader's Digest version of things. I'm glad you're back. I had an account with Killanet but the site closed up. No time to keep it going, I suppose. Looking forward to seeing more of your photos. Have fun with the new camera.

So sorry for your loss - my maternal Grandmother passed in July 2009, and then my paternal Grandfather in 2011. My Mom spent a couple of weeks in ICU for congestive heart disease as well, but she seems to be doing better these days. I try to watch her stress levels, but the family business and my brother's family don't do much to assist. I'm still trying to get out of the business, but it's like a clingy vine that just saps the life and will out of you. Scott and I are coming up on 7 years together, we moved to a "new" house a couple of years ago that has a really nice yard, which we have been improving on, and no stairs, which my knees and feet thank me for. Hopefully the fruits of our labour in the yard will produce some nice blossoms to shoot this summer. I've bought some new writing software that I am hoping to make use of in the very near future to finally get some stories and perhaps screenplays done. I like the new Dodge Darts - my very first car was a 1962 Dodge Dart 440. It was older than me, and had a push button transmission. I loved that car. Right up until a little old lady pulled out in front of me and totalled it. Very upsetting. Yes, we closed KillaNet - there just wasn't enough time to put in on it and we wanted to do other projects. What sort of projects are you planning with the 3D software? My eldest is getting married next year, so she's been busy planning. The youngest is going to school to become an audio engineer and working on a demo for his voice acting; he also had a speaking role in a locally shot indie film which is nearing release. The new camera is a challenge - but I have eVersions of the manual on my tablet so I can take it with me, because I don't have a hope in Hades of remembering what all those buttons and settings mean...or do...lol. That's my Reader's Digest version, now I have to get the cavechild off to the bus (we don't live on one of those fancy bus route streets) so that he can attend today's post production class.

Thanks. Her health had been declining for a while and began to decline rapidly early last year. Sorry about your grandparents. Glad your mom is doing better. What kind of business is your family in? I can sympathize about the steps. I live on the second floor. I have Poser 10 and once I learn how to use it and get a rendering plug-in for it, I have a couple of graphic novel ideas I want to work on as well as produce concept art. I also want to get Vue, but that will be a while. It's not cheap. My ex also has a Dart. Her old car died on her (transmission blew) and she liked mine so we went to where I got mine and she got a 2014 Dart GT. She loves it. Hope your daughter's wedding goes well. Good luck to your son. One thing I learned about DSLR's is that you basically only need three settings: Manual, Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority. Autofocus is useless unless you're shooting race cars. The rest of the stuff is extraneous. I have friends whose kids are getting married, graduating high school or college and having kids. And some of them have become grandparents. When did we get old? Do you have any vacation plans? Maybe next year for me, once I have more money coming in. I wouldn't mind getting up to your neck of the woods one of these days. I also know another BC photographer via dA and Facebook. His dA name is NikonAJ. Which writing software do you have? I have Final Draft for my scriptwriting and Word for everything else. Might try to get some fishing in next weekend. We have a lot of lakes. streams and rivers around me.

Family business is in towing - not the repo/parking impound kind, though. We only do breakdowns, vehicle relocation, equipment moving and police towing. I don't like the industry, lol. We're going to my partner's cousin's wedding at the beginning of August, up at Kicking Horse Pass. Other than that, we have been saving up to go to the UK on a family history research trip. Scott's family is from England, Scotland and Ireland, while my maternal Grandmother's family is from England. I went there with my Grandparents when I was 16 and I've always wanted to go back, so we've been putting everything we can aside to go there for a few weeks. The rest of my family is from Sweden and Russia, those trips might have to wait for some time in the future. I've bought Final Draft, plus I have Scrivener and Scapple, which are very handy for research and idea plotting.

Okay. I dated a girl, many years ago, whose family had a towing business. It can be a tough line of work. Have fun at the wedding in August. I'd like to get back the UK someday, too. Was there in 1970 as part of a family vacation. It was back in the "If it's Tuesday, it must be Belgium" days. Seven countries in two weeks. I'd also like to get back to Paris (have friends of the family there) and I'd also like to get back to Rome and Venice. I have a friend who'd also like to get back to Venice. She and I have known each other since high school. Like me, she also would like to get back to California. I'd also like to visit Tokyo some day, just to say I've been there. Only if I can afford to fly in the front of the plane. I'm not sitting in coach for 14 hours (outbound) and 13 hours (return trip). That's a nonstop out of JFK. Some day, I hope. I just upgraded to Final Draft 9 and I also have Contour, which is for plotting and such.
