# About me
I started off as a bachelor of arts, fashion major. I was a shy fashion student, introvert in university and I really gravitated towards canvas, drawing and books and also had a mutual passion for comic books and superheroes. I was not into sports and was terrible at any sort of athleticism, though one of the salient passions of mine has always been science and health dating back to my year of GCSEs. Half way through working in fashion I started noticing imbalances in other people's bodies, which started to make me think about the prevention of injuries as well as the injuries themselves. I loved the science of health and wellness and wanted to find a career that enabled me to help a large number of people, a career that emphasised prevention and primary care rather than tertiary care.Soon after I graduated I discovered exercise, a way that could transcend my 'nerdy' self as a school child, almost in a way that could make me a superhero and that connected in my interest in drawing and some of the same feedback loops that was evident in drawing were present in working out, and I recognised the mental health benefits of it.
This all encouraged me to switch my major to basic anatomy, physiology and psychology and at CHEK institute in New York, as a CHEK practitioner, I took an all hands on deck approach to health, the promise of the future of functional medicine, taking a root cause approach to finding what the root cause is. Specialising in Corrective exercise and holistic lifestyle coaching, with prerequisites in program design, core conditioning and scientific back training, equal but not the same 'female specific' training and advanced core conditioning. As well as a course in Dr Eric Goodmanβs Foundation training principles program for back rehabilitation, I started to take weekend classes in Body Psychotherapy, Gestalt and Feldenkrais exercises and Biodynamic massage offered at Cambridge.
Since 2004 I have gained over two hundred hours experience at the Priory Hospital in a clinical setting with both the fitness department and the body movement and psychotherapy department. As a healthcare consultant and coach. I have gained certifications at NCSF (National Council of Strength and Fitness) and the NASM (National Association of Sports Medicine).
Overall wellness is something that must be applied to everybody, just as adults need to be able to move in order to sustain that independent lifestyle; children need to be able to move to properly mature.
When I am not painting or drawing. I help offer personalised health plans of my own integrated holistic model to correct muscular imbalances, reduce stress and increasing self-empowerment to teach people how to live lives of freedom, joy, and fulfilment. I believe that when people take responsibility for their health and security, they can begin the journey of reclaiming their personal vitalityβa journey of small, powerful choices that gradually bring their lives back into balance.
